Following the closure of the Dunelm store in West Street, we were contracted to carry out asbestos sample prior to the property being sold; the sample came back as containing Amosite and Chrysotile.
While Dunelm were waiting for confirmation of the asbestos removal works, we were contacted to carry out making safe works due to a recent break in on site. While we were carrying these works out, we were told to notify the HSE for the AIB removal on the 1st floor. The works entailed removing AIB ceiling panels within 4 room and within the cement Chrysotile cladding of the shop floor. In total, the work took 20 working days: 19 days for the AIB Removal and 1 day for the cladding removal. Once all AIB was removed from the 1st floor, an independent analyst attended site to carry out a 4 Stage Clearance and issued a certificate of reoccupation.
Once these works were completed, Dunelm instructed us for further works to remove the Asbestos Floor Tiles within the shop floor. These works were completed within 3 days and once completed our experienced asbestos supervisor carried out a visual clearance and issued a formal visual clearance certificate. While we were on site, we found what we believed to be further AIB fire cladding to the ceiling beams on the shop floor. We sampled these as a matter of urgency and the sample came back containing Amosite and Chrysotile; these works were immediately notified to the HSE in order to carry out the removal as soon as possible. These works took 5 days under fully controlled conditions by our experienced team; once completed, an independent analyst attended site to carry out a 4 Stage Clearance and issued a certificate of reoccupation.
